Gone are the days when left-handed shooters had to make do with whatever right-handed firearms were on hand. Benelli has a dozen models of shotgun specifically engineered to accommodate the needs of left-handers. They’re available in both semi-automatic and break-action versions for target shooters, waterfowlers, upland hunters and turkey hunters.
Benelli M4 Limited Edition 12ga 3″ 18.5″ Black 5+1 Semi-Auto Shotgun 11701
The Benelli M1014 has been in service with the Marine Corps for almost 20 years, during that time it has gained a well-deserved reputation for being a reliable and devastating semi-automatic combat shotgun. The M1014 Limited is almost an exact copy of the Corp’s service shotgun and features an American Flag engraved onto the receiver. The stock of the M1014 Limited Addition is skeletonized, but still features an ample recoil pad and cheek rest. it’s a Right Hand shotgun.
The secret behind the Benelli M4 left-hand reliability and combat effectiveness is its Auto Regulating Gas Operation (ARGO) system. It utilizes dual stainless steel, self-cleaning pistons that operate directly against the rotating bolt when firing. The advantage of the ARGO system is that it eliminates complex mechanics found in many comparable semi-automatic shotguns that tend to foul up faster and are more difficult to clean.
The Benelli M1014 Limited Addition features a Picatinny rail located on the top of the receiver just forward of the shotgun’s Ghost Ring rear sight. The Picatinny rail mount is ideal for mounting reflex or holographic sights like the Trijicon 1×42 Reflex Sight, Aimpoint Mirco S-1 6 MOA Reflex Sight, or the EOTech 512.A65 Holographic Sight. The M1014 is finished with an MIL-SPEC anti-reflective coating that also makes the shotgun highly resistant to corrosion.

The M4 was the first gas-operated shotgun produced by Benelli. Its function is designed around an entirely new design called the “auto-regulating gas-operated” (ARGO) system. The short-stroke design uses two self-cleaning stainless steel pistons located just ahead of the chamber to function opposite a rotating bolt, thereby eliminating the need for the complex mechanisms found on other gas-actuated automatics. The ARGO incorporates only four parts: two symmetrical fore-end shrouds containing two small steel pistons that push directly against the bolt.
Additionally, the weapon is self-regulating for use with shotshells of varying lengths and power levels. It can fire 2.75 in (70 mm) and 3 in (76 mm) shells of differing propellant loads without any operator adjustments and in any combination. Low-power rounds, such as less-lethal baton rounds, must be cycled manually.
The sights are military-style ghost ring and are adjustable in the field using only the rim of a shell. The MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail on top of the receiver allows use of both conventional optical sights and night-vision devices, while retaining use of the original iron sights.
The modular basis of the shotgun means many of its features can be reconfigured as needed. It allows a user to quickly exchange the various assembly groups (barrel, buttstock, forend, etc.) without the use of additional tools.

Preliminary testing of the M4 suggests a high level of reliability. It can reliably function for at least 25,000 rounds without replacement of any major parts. The steel components of the weapon feature a matte black phosphated corrosion resistant finish while the aluminium parts are matte hard-anodized. These finishes reduce the weapon’s visibility during night operations.
The weapon requires little maintenance and operates in all climates and weather conditions.
